Every family is different…

That’s what makes me love being a family photographer! I offer location recommendations and session activities that fit every interest, mobility level, and family dynamic out there. I want each member of your family to feel included as we create family photos worth cherishing for a lifetime. Did I mention you’re welcome to bring your pup if they are comfortable in front of a camera? That’s right, family is family, after all!

  • I love photographing families. That’s the simple answer. The longer answer is better though.

Mom’s and Dad’s are always responsible for EVERYTHING, EVERYDAY (*insert stress grays and brow wrinkles), including the photos of those fleeting, but memorable moments. How often have you been on vacation, or just on a family outing and wished you could have that group shot, or a candid of you and your kids playing together? I know I love those shots of my own family, and I put that same passion behind creating your family photos.

  • You’re probably already saying to yourself “yea, but not my kid. They never sit still”. Listen, I feel you. I have one of my own, and it’s true; they don’t and they won’t. But that’s ok. I have a different approach.

A good portion of your session consists of a technique called Guided Activity. Your family will be given an activity, or series of activities to perform. These can range from easy to challenging, depending on your families flavor, and completely customizable to your comfort, creativity, and ability. How fun is that?

Activities can include old school field games, hide and seek, tag, or a scavenger hunt for natural found items.

For family sessions with younger kiddos (7 and under) I like to choose locations where they can set their curiosity free and explore their surroundings safely. This always makes for really heart-warming photos! Play brings out the most natural expressions of fun and joy with families, and it keeps that energy burning so we have their attention when we really need it.

  • So you’re coming to Maine for your family’s Acadia National Park vacation and you want family photos? I have all of the tips and tricks to have a successful and enjoyable family photo session in this stunning national park.

No easy task when you consider Acadia National Park has well over FOUR MILLION visitors each year, and is one of the most visited national parks in the United States (as reported by the NPS).

Yet the shots I capture of your family will make it seem as though you were the only human life for miles around. Part of that is location choice and having a photographer that knows the right time of day to avoid the crowds. The rest is just plain MAGIC.

Now this isn’t meant to turn away you local folk. I want to work with you too!

For those of you who live here and want something a bit different from the every-day of Acadia family photos, I have fantastic trail and location recommendations going as far as Roques Bluff, Cutler, and Lubec; the eastern-most point in the USA. You’re sure to have a unique family photo session experience with me that will leave you knowing we went on a REAL Maine adventure that day!

The Family Session Experience

Maine has so many wonderful and scenic locations to offer that it could be hard to even choose for your session. That’s why I make it easy. You can choose from different session experiences such as a Classic Family Session that is a little more stationary at a single scenic location, or the Home-Sweet-Home Sessions for families that do better with that home-field advantage.

For families that really love adventure, there is the Exploration Sessions and the Adventurer Sessions. Each come with their own unique locations and experiences ranging from beginner to very difficult. Need an easier adventure, but an adventure nonetheless? My recommendations range the spectrum for everyone’s ability. We’ll discuss all of that during your consult. I’ll be here with all of the tips, tricks, and recommendations to make your session the best it can be.

The Classic Family Session

This experience is your classic photography session, set at a scenic Maine location. This package is great for the family that wants to avoid the hiking trails, and prefer sticking to one spot such as a beach, field, pond, or other easily accessible, non-hiking location. We'll focus on capturing those wall and album worthy family photos with both posed and candid guided activity compositions. There will also be a few minutes set aside at the end for the kids (and kids-at-heart) to play and explore for documentary-style shots, all while the parents get to relax and enjoy the scenery. Isn't that a nice way to end your session before you have to get back to the everyday grind?

Home-Sweet-Home Session

The Home-Sweet-Home Session takes us somewhere deeply personal to you; your home, camp, campsite, or vacation rental! This photography session includes multiple ‘sets’ on your property, and your family is welcome to change their outfits for each one. This is a great way to capture what makes your family unique; with a home-field advantage. Sets can vary from a cozy living room moment, to play time in the yard or a wander in the wood-line.

Visiting your family camp or renting a sweet cabin this summer? This package will capture your camp experience just as you remember it.

Take a dive in the lake, go for a cruise on the boat, sit around the fire, play a game of poker together. Whatever camp life means to you, this experience will capture it.

Exploration Sessions

This experience immerses your family in nature for two hours or up to 2 miles of exploration and discovery, all set in a scenic Maine location. Enjoy your session as we explore one of Acadia's beautiful seaside locations, wander and explore along one of MDI's many carriage roads, or toss in mountaintop family photos for the really adventurous type. This photography experience includes multiple stops to capture documentary-style coverage of your family exploring within your surroundings, as well as candid and posed group photos throughout the journey. You will need to hike or drive between destinations within your chosen location during this session. Recommendations range from easy to difficult.
